Peer support groups and community organisations across WA are invited to take part in the Walk for Reconciliation 2026, with events taking place at Kaarta Koomba (Kings Park) and Goomburrup (Bunbury) on Thursday 22 October.
Hosted by Reconciliation WA and event partners, the Walk for Reconciliation brings communities together to walk in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while creating opportunities to listen, learn and connect.
For peer support groups, the event may be an opportunity to attend together, connect with community and take part in a shared experience centred on reconciliation.
Walk for Reconciliation at Kaarta Koomba
The Perth walk will take place at Kaarta Koomba (Kings Park), with timed walking waves departing every 20 minutes from 10.00am, and the final wave departing at 3.30pm.
The day begins with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony before participants walk through Kaarta Koomba, stopping at story points along the trail.
According to Reconciliation WA, the walk offers opportunities to listen, learn and take part in a continuing story, with a dedicated Women’s Business track available for those who choose it.
The main stage will also feature performances, activities and opportunities to connect throughout the day.
The event has been designed to be inclusive and accessible, with a shorter accessibility trail suitable for wheelchairs, mobility aids and prams. Accessible amenities will also be available.
Primary Schools Walk
Schools can also register for a dedicated Primary Schools Walk at Kaarta Koomba on Thursday 22 October.
The one-hour guided experience includes knowledge sharing, singing and activities led by Aboriginal community members, with a focus on learning, curiosity and respectful engagement with Aboriginal cultures and perspectives.
Secondary school students and high school groups are encouraged to participate in the main Walk for Reconciliation.
Walk for Reconciliation in Goomburrup
For groups in the South West, a Walk for Reconciliation will also take place in Goomburrup (Bunbury) on Thursday 22 October.
Presented by Yaka Dandjoo Events, the City of Bunbury and Reconciliation WA, the community event will celebrate culture, connection and a shared commitment to reconciliation.
