Training and Development for Support Groups
At Alike WA, we’re passionate about helping your support group grow and thrive. Our specialised training is tailored to meet the unique needs of group leaders, committee members, and volunteers, no matter where you are on your journey. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to expand and futureproof your group, we’re here to provide the tools and support you need.
Our goal is simple: we want your group to remain a valuable and sustainable resource for your community, today and in the future.
Our workshops are designed to address the unique challenges faced by those running support groups. Developed by the Alike WA team, our sector-informed, accessible, and interactive workshops focus on the specific needs of your group. These sessions also provide an opportunity to connect with other group leaders, share insights, and create a community of support.
Leading a group that supports individuals with rare, genetic, or undiagnosed (RGU) conditions comes with its own set of challenges. Alike WA offers a program specifically tailored for RGU groups, addressing both the unique needs of your group and the individuals you support.
From group management and sustainability to connecting with others facing similar challenges, our RGU program is designed to help you navigate the complexities of supporting those with RGU conditions and raise awareness within the community and healthcare system.
Looking to connect with other support group leaders in your community? Our Peer Support Networks are place-based initiatives that offer a welcoming space for leaders to network, share information, and access training and education that directly supports their work in the local community. Held quarterly, these meetings help build stronger connections between local groups, with a strong focus on addressing place-based needs and finding solutions together.
Peer Support Networks are currently active in the below locations:
Need support with a specific challenge or knowledge gap? Alike WA offers customised fee-for-service workshops that meet your group’s unique needs. A tailored workshop provides an opportunity for group leaders, committee members, and volunteers to upskill together and build a more resilient group.
