Parents Beyond Breakup (PBB) is an Australian suicide-prevention charity supporting separating mums, dads and grandparents - one of the country’s highest at risk of suicide demographics. Through its frontline programs Dads in Distress (DIDs), Mums in Distress (MIDs) and Grandparents in Distress (GIDs), PBB delivers free, confidential, non-judgemental peer support grounded in lived experience and a trauma-informed, person-centred approach. Support is available via a national helpline (1300 853 437, 365 days), daily Zoom groups, local in-person meetings and 24/7 online communities. Benefits include rapid reduction in suicidality (self-reported significant drops after three sessions for up to 80% of attendees), restored purpose, stronger parent–child connection, and highly cost-effective outcomes.
Peer support: give some, get some. In WA, PBB operates a network of 1-2-1 mentors across the state, local helpline volunteers that improve WA time zone support and a number of online WA focussed groups and in-person support groups in Perth, Kalgoorlie, Bunbury, Geraldton and Karratha.
