About This Group

Arts programs for children, facilitated by qualified artist and disability support workers, include visual, performing, and craft arts - fostering self-esteem, social skills, and emotional regulation. The program leads to measurable outcomes including increased confidence, improved social interaction, and greater emotional resilience, which was evidenced in a pilot program in 2026. Each term concludes with a showcase where participants display and potentially sell their artwork, celebrating achievements and strengthening community connections. Participants also have the opportunity to develop business skills and financial literacy through practical workshops on art sales and market stalls sparking entrepreneurial confidence and building pathways toward self-reliance and independence.

In addition, carers attend parallel support groups that provide a secure and friendly environment for connection, shared learning, and peer support, with programs and presentations chosen by the group. Guest speakers, including local health professionals and community members, will deliver short, informal sessions tailored to participants' needs, offering practical support and information. The outcomes for carers include reduced feelings of isolation, increased access to practical resources, and enhanced mental and maternal well-being, proven in the 2026 pilot.

Meetings are held at Minnawarra House, Armadale on Thursday evenings during term 3.30pm - 5pm
