Starting and maintaining a Support Group can feel overwhelming at times – we get it! At Alike WA, we’re here to support you every step of the way, helping your group thrive through both the challenges and triumphs. As a member, you’ll have access to a range of services and resources to ensure your group remains strong and sustainable.

Offering guidance and resources to help you start a support group
Providing ongoing support to existing groups in areas like internal dynamics, facilitator training, and connecting with community resources
Developing and delivering specialised sector development for our members

Membership Eligibility

Alike WA membership is open to peer support groups and organisations that meet the following criteria:

Active for at least 6 months
Minimum of 5 regular members
Hosts regular group meetings

We offer three types of membership:

Affiliate Membership:

For peer support groups operating in Western Australia

Associate Membership:

For organisations in WA that offer peer support groups as part of their services

Allied Membership:

Affiliate or Associate status based outside of WA

Membership FAQs

My group has been running for less than 6 months – can we still access Alike’s services?

Absolutely! New and emerging support groups are encouraged to attend our workshops and one-on-one sessions. Our training is designed to help you build strong foundations for your group, setting you up for long-term success.

I’m not sure which membership category my group fits into. Can you help?

No problem! Just give our friendly team a call at (08) 9364 6909, and we’ll help you figure out the right membership category for your group.

How long will it take to process my membership application?

Membership applications are reviewed at Alike’s monthly Board Meetings. Depending on when you apply, it may take up to 5 weeks to receive a response—longer during the Christmas/New Year period. If you need an update, just reach out to our team at (08) 9364 6909.

My membership application wasn’t successful—what should I do next?

If your application wasn’t successful, it could be because your group doesn’t meet the membership criteria, or the Board needed more information. Don’t worry—we’ll provide feedback and let you know if additional details are needed.

I want to apply for a Pay it Forward grant, but my membership is still pending—can I still apply?

Unfortunately, only current members can apply for the Pay it Forward grant. Contact us at (08) 9364 6909 to find out when your membership will be processed, so you can plan ahead.

I run an online group—can I still become a member?

Yes! We welcome online peer support groups to apply for membership.
