Applications open for WA’s Ministerial Youth Advisory Council

Alike Speech Bubble

Young Western Australians aged 15 to 25 are being invited to apply for the Ministerial Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) 2027–2030 term.

MYAC brings together 12 young people from across Western Australia to provide advice to the Minister for Youth on issues affecting young people.

For young people who want to share their experiences and perspectives, contribute to government initiatives and have a say on issues that matter to their peers, this is an opportunity to get involved.

What does MYAC do?

Council members provide advice on issues affecting young Western Australians and contribute their perspectives to government policies, programs and initiatives.

Participation also provides opportunities to develop leadership, communication and advocacy skills while connecting with other young people from across WA.

Members are remunerated for their contribution.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to young people who:

  • are aged between 15 and 25 during the period from 1 July 2027 to 30 June 2030
  • live in Western Australia
  • have knowledge of, or an interest in, issues affecting young people
  • are willing to share their experiences and perspectives to help improve outcomes for young people.

No previous advisory group experience is required.

The Department of Communities is encouraging applications from young people from a wide range of backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, young people with disability, young carers, LGBTIQA+ young people, young people from multicultural and multifaith backgrounds, and those living in regional and remote WA.
